Artisans and Artworks Pop-up

  • Creake Abbey Creake Abbey Grain Store Fakenham United Kingdom (map)

A chance for visitors to meet and purchase works by three prominent Norfolk artists, Michelle Daniels, Catherine Downes and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Carter.

Michelle is a potter, Catherine a silversmith and Elizabeth a painter.

“Our idea for the pop-ups is to create a welcoming environment where visitors can see and purchase our work and also get an insight into our creative world with additional displays of works in progress, tools of the trade, raw materials, photographs, explanations and sketch books etc”.

We have been exhibiting together for many years at events in Norfolk and Suffolk.. As well as being good friends, we share the same passion and enthusiasm for our work and are really looking forward to Popping up in the Grainstore at Creake Abbey and sharing our creative journeys and work with you”

Michelle Daniels - Potter

In addition to wheel thrown stoneware, Michelle has created a collection of Raku “Space pots” inspired by the incredible images of Earth taken by Astronaut Tim Peake whilst on board the International Space station.

Catherine Downes - Silversmith

Catherine makes contemporary Jewellery and functional and ornamental items in Silver and is also currently working on some sculptural pieces in copper which can be commissioned in Silver.

Elizabeth Fitzgerald Carter

A marine and river artist who explores those spaces and places on the margins – between the sea, the beach, the riverbank and the sky. She uses colour and texture to capture light and evoke a sense of place. This might be the shifting, mysteriousness of a sea fret or the calm, sense of renewal on a river side walk. She works from her studios in Norfolk and the Inner Hebrides capturing swift ink sketches while on the water which she translates into atmospheric acrylic and oil paintings.

You can find this pop-up in the Grain Store at Creake Abbey, opposite the Food Hall on the following day:
